 Wellness & Mental Health

Our community is fortunate to have campus partners in wellness and mental health roles that understand the unique perspectives and lived experiences that Indigenous students bring with them to Stanford. Learn how to connect with them below.

Counseling 

Dr. Simmons provides individual therapy sessions and 30 minute “Let’s Talk” sessions for Native students weekly at the NACC or via Zoom! 

About Dr. Simmons

Jeremiah D. Simmons, PhD (Yankton Sioux/Navajo) is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences in the School of Medicine at Stanford University. Jeremiah, a native New Mexican, was raised on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation in Mescalero, NM. While he associates himself with the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation, his family originates from the Yankton Sioux and Navajo tribes. 

Jeremiah graduated with a B.A. from Stanford University, a M.S in Clinical Psychology from the University of New Mexico, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of New Mexico.

Student Affairs is committed to creating a holistic culture of well-being that promotes student flourishing. Holding social justice values at its core, we offer a myriad of mental health, physical health, and wellness services and resources. Our medical team, professional staff, and trained peers are ready to support you in your mental health and well-being journey.

Well-Being Coaching

Connect with Well-Being at Stanford to get 1-1 support to help you prioritize your well-being, get unstuck, and reach meaningful goals. Through this resource students are able to work closely with a supportive partner to design their own vision for well-being, figure out what they want and need at this phase of their life, and move through uncertainty with a trusted guide.
