Indigenous Communities Fellowship

The Indigenous Communities Fellowship is Stanford's premier opportunity for Native undergraduates and graduate students to pursue Indigenous service and community reinvestment. A Cardinal Quarter opportunity co-sponsored by the Native American Cultural Center and the Haas Center for Public Service, the fellowship enables students to participate in an internship working with a nonprofit, government, or tribal organization on social, political, and/or economic issues impacting American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Indigenous Pacific Islander communities in the U.S. Through this fellowship, students engage with communities by applying their experience, academic pursuits, and leadership skills to address issues of social change, equity, and inclusion centered in the Indigenous experience. Indigenous Communities Fellows spend the summer quarter working full-time with a supervisor/mentor in a community organization of their choice. Summer Indigenous Language Immersion Stipend

The NACC is proud to support opportunities for current students to learn or enhance Indigenous language knowledge and skills through our annual summer stipend program. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students and awards $5,000 stipends for summer language immersion and/or study. Student’s have the opportunity to propose opportunities where they will be enabled to immerse themselves in tribal language learning. Proposal may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

1. Enrollment in a tribal college or other institutions summer language course
2. Working with a tribe or island community organization on a language immersion or education project/program 
3. Partnering with a language mentor on a project such as curriculum development, language immersion, K-12 language learning programs, etc.
