Dr. Blue Tarpalechee
Dr. Blue Tarpalechee brings extensive leadership experience and a deep commitment to student success to his role as Associate Dean of Students and Director of the Native American Cultural Center. Prior to joining Stanford, he served as Dean of Students at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he oversaw student services, campus life, and engagement initiatives. His work has consistently centered Indigenous student support, community wellness, and culturally rooted programming.
Blue holds a Ph.D. in Native American Literature from the University of Oklahoma. His dissertation, Authorial Custody and Story Stewardship: Centering Relationality as an Indigenous Approach to Texts, explores ethical practices in preserving and sharing Indigenous stories. His academic and creative pursuits have included curating exhibitions, producing television series, writing book reviews, and speaking.
